Court Orders Forfeiture of 48 Properties Linked to Ex-NSTIF Boss, Ngozi Olemeje.
Justice Taiwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja has ordered the interim forfeiture of 48 Properties, allegedly linked to the former Chairman of Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Funds(NSITF) Dr Ngozi Olemeje. Dr Olemeje who was also the Treasurer of the Jonathan - Sambo campaign organization in 2015 has been on the run since 2016 and was declared wanted by the EFCC for criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, diversion of public funds and money laundering in September 2017.
She was alleged to have, along with Umar Abubakar, former mamaging director of NSITF, mismanaged and diverted over 69billion Naira, belonging to the Federal Government into their personal accounts through the award of fake contracts to proxy companies. The forfeiture order was granted on Wednesday after counsel to the EFCC, Ekele Iheanacho, convinced the court that the said properties were purchased with proceeds of crime. He laid his position with 14 exhibits, attached to the affidavit, filed on May 29,2020.
COVID-19 :Oyo Records 9 more Recoveries, Total now 707.
Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde says 9 more patients have recovered from Coronavirus. In a series of tweets via is official Twitter handle today said the patients had been discharged. According to the Governor, the state has now recorded a total of 707 recoveries. He also confirmed 11 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, bringing the total number to 1391. The cases are from Lagelu(5),Ibafan Southwest(3), Ibadan North(1),Egbeda(1) and Ibadan Southeast(1) local Government Areas.
Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Gave Sixteen Secondary School Students who were Outstanding in Jamb Scholarship Awards.
In a virtual meeting held recently by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), 16 secondary school students who were outstanding in the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME), conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board(JAMB), received scholarship awards from the Nigerian Society of Engineers(NSE). The scholarship award, instituted by NSE is to encourage secondary school students to study engineering and Stem related courses in the University. In this case, the 16 students are to enjoy a 5 year scholarship after gaining admission into the University of their choice to study engineering plus 1 million Naira each to each of the outstanding students.
